Bradford is a diverse city with a population of approx 536,986. Amenities include two museums – Bradford Industrial Museum and the National Science and Media Museum. There is also an art gallery, Cartwright Hall, with a space dedicated to local artist David Hockney.
The main community languages spoken by residents are Punjabi, Urdu, Polish, Bengali, Pashto, Gujrati, Arabic and Slovak.
Bradford’s refugees and asylum seekers are supported by Refugee Action as well as other community groups. Shipley College, Meridian Centre, Refugee Action Good Practice and Anchor Project promote and support digital inclusion for adults.
There are a wide range of English language courses available across levels. The English Language Advice Hub is undertaking vital research in Bradford District through English language baseline needs assessments and focus groups to find out the main barriers to accessing ESOL provision and progression.
