New free online ESOL and Employment Programme for eligible adults from Hong Kong and Ukraine
World Jewish Relief has launched a new English language and employment programme for eligible adults from Hong Kong and Ukraine. The MHCLG-funded programme will run for 12 months and offer free employment and English language support to help individuals enhance their job skills, prepare for future employment and improve their English. English language provision will be delivered online in partnership with the British Council and is available from Entry Level 1 [A1] to Level 1 [B2]. Both intensive (5 days per week, 12 weeks) and part-time (3 days per week, 24 weeks) courses are available, and learners can opt for morning (10am-12pm), afternoon (12.30pm-2.30pm) or evening sessions (6.30pm-8.30pm). Alongside live lessons with a qualified tutor, learners will benefit from access to the British Council’s online self-study materials for 12 months. Personalised support to find work, through one-to-one advice and guidance meetings with a dedicated Employment Advisor, will also be provided. Support with hardware can be provided where needed, however, digital literacy is expected. The enrolment window is now open and the first course will begin in October 2025.
To be eligible, learners must be: aged at least 18 years old, resident in England, either unemployed or under-employed, looking for a job or a better job, able to commit to the full duration of their course, in the UK on a Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme, Ukraine Family Scheme, Ukraine Extension Scheme or Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme visa, or in the UK on a British Nationals (Overseas) Visa. Further information about the programme is available in English, Traditional Chinese and Ukrainian on the programme website. Find out more
