Migrant English Support Hub launches Learning English Plus resource for ESOL tutors, volunteers and providers

Leeds-based charity, Migrant English Support Hub (MESH), has announced the launch of its new website, Learning English Plus, a specialist extension of its Learning English in Yorkshire and the Humber (LEYH) website. Learning English Plus is a database of teaching resources, news, events and training opportunities that specifically supports English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tutors, volunteers and providers across the Yorkshire and Humber region. Catherine Hemmings, MESH Director, said, “Demand for English language learning courses remains high. With Learning English Plus, we aim to collate relevant information from the growing number of available online resources, making it quick and easy for ESOL professionals to access what they need to support their teaching.” The new website, developed by Feel Created, groups resources into three easy to access sections. The site directs users to a Resource Hub with teaching and learning resources, a Staff Room with the latest news and upcoming events related to running classes and a Training section with current opportunities for ESOL teachers, volunteers and organisations. The design of the new resource allows it to grow in support of the evolving needs of its users. With access to the latest up-to-date information, tutors, volunteers and providers are empowered to focus on the resources, events and training that are most relevant to them. “We encourage training and resource providers to contact us if they have information that could benefit our readers. Learning English Plus is designed to grow to meet the needs of the community it serves, acting as a comprehensive ESOL provision for Yorkshire and Humber,” concludes Catherine. Learning English Plus is an extension of LEYH, a MESH project delivered in partnership with Migration Yorkshire, and funded by local authorities across Yorkshire and the Humber and the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). The LEYH website has been developed in partnership with Feel Created, to provide information on opportunities to learn English across the Yorkshire and Humber region. To submit your information for inclusion on Learning English Plus, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
