What is STEP?

STEP (Specialist Training and Employment Programme) is a free online programme, funded by the UK Government, offering personalised employment support and high-quality English classes to Ukrainians and Hong Kong BN(O) visa holders across England, The programme offers Ukrainians and Hong Kong BN(O) visa holders the opportunity to improve their English, gain confidence and find employment in England. Delivered by World Jewish Relief, with English classes taught by the British Council, STEP has already supported over 14,000 people and is now welcoming Ukrainian and BN(O) visa holders.

What the programme offers:

One-to-one employment support with a dedicated advisor including:

- CV and cover letter support

- Help with job search and applications

- Interview preparation

English classes delivered by the British Council

- Learn in small online groups with people of a similar ability, led by professional teachers. Improve your English for everyday life, interviews, and work.

This is not just another course – it’s a government-backed programme that gives you the practical tools to build your future in the UK. When you complete the programme, you receive a British Council Certificate of Attendance and EnglishScore Test Certificate. Past programme participants have had great success, with 65% of previous participants finding working within a year and 94% recommending the programme to their peers.
