Course content
This short course is the first stage in your English learning journey at Adult Skills and Community Learning. This course will help you improve your ability to talk, listen, read and write in English. It’s suitable for you if English is your second language. You’ll learn in friendly and supportive classes taught by our teachers. They’re trained in working with adults.This course will enable you to:
Move onto an ESOL course where you can gain a certificate for your learning. ESOL courses are available at entry level where the emphasis is on developing skills. At levels 1 and 2, you’ll learn how to apply to a wider range of purposes in the workplace. You’ll also learn to apply them in other real life situations.You’ll also develop the following skills for work:
- Working as part of a team
- Being positive
- Working to deadlines
- Following instructions correctly
- Adaptability
- Learning from setbacks
Course delivery
- 1 x two hour classroom based session with other learners
- This course lasts up to 14 hours
- At least 1 hour of homework tasks to be completed each week
- Weekly individual tutor support available by Teams, email and telephone
- Online BKSB resources and assessments for additional study and regular progress checks.
