ESOL Core Next Steps (Entry 1)

At this level, you’ll attend once a week to develop your skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. You’ll become able to ask questions and follow simple instructions in English. This will help you with tasks such as making appointments or speaking to your child’s school. It will also prepare you for further study or work. At the end of your course, you’ll take an Entry 1 qualification in Speaking and Listening. While you are attending your Core Next Steps class, you can also attend the following to widen your skills.

ESOL Conversation Group

- - Each group runs for an hour each week to practice your speaking and listening skills.

ESOL Extra Reading

- - These courses run for one session each week at a level that’s right for you. At the end of your course, you will take a reading qualification.

ESOL Extra Writing

- - These courses run for one session each week at a level that’s right for you. At the end of your course, you will take a writing qualification.

Identity and Belonging in the UK

These courses help you to understand key aspects of British society and culture. They are good for people who are new to life in the UK
