Wider Learning Opportunity

Careers in Care is a week-long course that provides you with an introduction to the health and care sector and the jobs available within it, as well as offering practical experience, so you can learn more about what it’s like to work in care. You will also learn about specific care-related topics, such as:
  • Moving and handling
  • Personal care delivery
  • The importance of nutritional intake
  • Dementia
The course will provide you with the opportunity to achieve an accredited Level 2 qualification in Moving and Handling, which is an important qualification for lots of health and care roles. The course is free of charge and will take place at Leeds City College, 9.30am – 3pm Monday to Friday. Multiple dates are available. Applicants are asked to:
  • Be aged 18 years or over
  • Be prepared to work at least 20 hours per week.
  • Commit to the full week-long course.
  • Have been a resident in the UK for more than 3 years OR be an asylum seeker or refugee.
  • Be working at Entry Level 3 in English and Maths or above.

    Wednesday: 9.30am - 3pm
    Thursday: 9.30am - 3pm
    Friday: 9.30am - 3pm
