About this class

This course helps you learn basic English for everyday life in the UK. You will practise speaking and listening in simple situations, such as talking about yourself and your family, asking for help, and speaking to people in your local community.

What skills, knowledge and behaviours will you be developing?

You will develop the skills to listen, understand and speak in simple English conversations. You will gain the knowledge of everyday English words and phrases that can help you communicate, give personal information and respond to simple questions. You will also develop positive behaviours such as confidence, regular attendance, participation in class activities and a willingness to use and practise English every day.

What could you do next?

You can move on to the next ESOL course to continue improving your English. You may also join a Digital Skills course to help you use computers, phones and the internet with more confidence.

If you are ready, you could take other courses to help you find work, write a CV, look for jobs, or gain qualifications. Your tutor will talk to you about your next steps and help you choose the right course for you.
