Level 1 Award in Understanding Community Interpreting
Wider Learning Opportunity
Britain is now a multilingual society, but there are still members of some communities who have a limited grasp of spoken English. Many members of British society are able to function in more than one language. This qualification allows learners to develop their considerable skills to help others to overcome linguistic barriers in everyday situations, such as accessing education, health services, housing, justice, and other public services.
Ascentis has developed a suite of qualifications which recognise and build on learners’ linguistic ability and hel them to develop the complex skills needed to act as an interpreter. These qualifications are aimed at learners who have an interest in learning about the role of an interpreter and working with different linguistic groups in the community. They are also for learners who wish to acquire qualifications to enable them to work towards becoming a Community Interpreter.
You can potentially get your course funded if you are working and your annual gross earnings are less than £25,000 or if you are unemployed and/or in receipt of benefits.
